Electronic Cars

     I wonder what things can be better by electronic power. Like cars and motorcycles, I think the gasoline inside it makes the environment worse. We should find some vicariousness energy to use in some cars and motorcycles, and also other things.

     This year, I went to a winter camp that we can build electronic cars, and also, it is a green source that we could use. At this camp, we learned about some things in our electronic car set. Like we learned some racing wheels, gears, and some other stuff that we need to use. Not only had we learned about cars, we also learned some green energy that can generate electricity. Like using wind, water, sun power, and using tides and hydrogen can generate electricity. I saw Christmas trees made of solar energy boards, some wind generators, and also saw a train that can use hydrogen to move! And the teacher told use about hydrogen cars. They use hydrogen to move, and this kind of cars doesn’t cause air pollution.

     Most of the time in winter camp, we build electronic cars. We first build some easy cars, like the basic car, the three-wheel car, and the antique car. After we built the whole car, we use our remote controllers to play it. The first car we built only goes front and back, so I think it’s bad. Later, our cars can turn left and right and also push and lift things by building the bulldozer. But the bad part is, at the first day we build electronic cars; we always build the car, test it for a few minutes, and “demolish” it to build another car. At the second day, after we built the bulldozer, we have a race. At the first race, we need to drive the car to a place, and use the car to push the bottle to the finish. Some people think it’s impossible, but some people made it easily all the way. I was at the middle at the score, so I don’t think it’s good. At the second one, we drive the car to the finish line and answer some questions to win. At the end of the winter camp, I think the camp is fun, so maybe I can join it again.

     I think electronic cars are so good, and I wish to make it real in future life. Now I can play my electronic cars all day, and have fun playing with it!

     In Taiwan and some other Asian countries, there is a festival called the lantern festival. Before, when people are celebrating lantern festival, they probably will use some traditional lanterns and stuffed dumplings to celebrate the festival, but now we use some big and colorful lanterns, made of steel wires and a big piece of cloth, and also many big lights to make it shiny. And we use some dumplings stuffed with sweet or salty fillings, we all like it! From the day of the lantern festival, there would be many places that we could see those big lanterns. Also, Kaohsiung’s lantern festival has a lantern competition. At lantern festival, they would put all of the lanterns that are in the competition in lantern festival to let the visitors see them.

     At the day of the lantern festival, there would be many tourists that see the lanterns. So it is so crowded, and that we should protect our safety, and have fun on this festival!

     Taiwan is a very beautiful place in Asia, since hundreds of years ago, the Portuguese found Taiwan, and because it is a beautiful island, they call it Formosa, which is Taiwan’s old name, and drew it on their maps. Taiwan is a beautiful island, but our island also has a lot of problems. Like Taiwan’s earthquakes are usually big, and frequently, because the island is on two plate tectonics, so it does that frequently. And the population density in Taiwan is over an enormous 600 people per square mile! And, global warming is continuing, so some people like to ride bikes. Maybe some bike riders only concentrate on their bike speed, or some people like to ride slowly, and cycle around Taiwan. Some people like to concentrate both speed and ride long courses. In long rides, you need proper planning, and practice a few weeks too. In conclusion, biking is a good sport, and a healthy activity and hobby too, no matter what way you ride your bike.

Pinocchio

     I think most children are like Pinocchio. They play all day,  and don’t go to school most of the time. They don’t study at school either, they just play and eat lunch. But I wonder why Pinocchio is so gullible? Maybe he doesn’t really think about things that who is lying. So I wish don’t copy Pinocchio again (the first three-quarters of the story). And I also know Lampwick is bad too. He is a bad boy who only tells someone studying is bad, boring and it’s like burning hell. He also tells someone just go to play. But he also gets his payback: he turns into a real donkey. I see a lot of kids and teenagers do like that, too. They just play, and do bad things like smoking, speak dirty language and steal things from other people.

     This story is talking about many things in your life. Pinocchio, he is a naughty, selfish and greedy boy, but he changes after his dad was sick, and he become a good boy. Mr. Fox and Mr. Cat (let’s call him that way) are liars. Liars are bad and they lied to many people, and if you do that in real life, you would even gat a death sentence because of lying. And the doctors like to fight each other, one says it is dead, but the other one says it isn’t, and I like them the most, because they are funny (I wonder that doctor who always say “He/She’s dead” must be fired).

     But, we need to learn from Pinocchio. He was affected by many bad people, and almost changes his mind to evil, but he can find the right direction to a good boy. I would say a second time, he is really a good boy.

After I went to Taipei, I think it is a good place, and I saw many good types of scenery that you couldn’t see in Kaoshiung. At Taipei 101, I saw many tall buildings in the 89th floor. Then at the Grand Hotel, the room is very fabulous, it had a big balcony to let us see the beautiful night scenery, bathtub, and a personal little bathroom. This is like those hotels we stayed in Japan, because the hotel also had many kinds of food to let us choose! However, those things are so expensive, that a bottle of water costs 50 NT dollars and a bottle of cola cost 150 NT dollars! Even those things are so expensive, I still like that hotel.


Taipei’s street markets have many kinds of foods that we couldn’t eat often, and there is always crowded because of many shops. As of many shops, one shop which sells fried chicken sells the best. They had fried chicken big as your face, and it only costs 50 NT dollars! I think this shop can earn much money in a short amount of time. At Dansui night market, there are many decorations, many arcade stores, and many foods too. This night market sells very long ice cream, Turkish ice cream, and Dansui fish balls. Not only old stores, there is also stores that sell noodles, sushi, and fast food!


Taipei is a good place to have fun, and it also have some famous amusement parks. I wish I can go to other places of Taipei next time!

The Fireworks

Today we went to see the fireworks in the evening. At 8:00, we changed our clothes and we went out. We first went to Green Bay, and we walked there because of no bikes or motorcycles can go in. We saw a lot of people, about 20000 people. We came up the ramp, and went down the ramp to the ground. We heard a band singing there on a very big stage. I want to see the concert, but since Dad only wanted to go to eat some food, so we quickly walked away. We went in the door to the food area and got a handbill. At the food area, there are a lot of tents, and it had various kinds of food. We didn’t walk along because I don’t want to eat it. So we sat on the manhole cover. We waited and waited until the first firework happened on the back of us. We can’t watch it very clearly, because there is a building which blocked the firework. But it was still very beautiful, because it has many colors and big explosions. But at 9:00, the “real” firework finally started. The firework had even bigger bangs and a part that shoots fireworks like a fast shooter! After the firework, I think that this firework is the most beautiful, and this is the first time I had seen the firework with a short distance! After the firework, we went to see a softball game. It is Taiwan versus Japan. After we arrived, the score is tied 1-1. But at the 8th inning, that player that defenses home base didn’t catch the ball thrown from the other player and let Japan score another point and ended the game winning! I think that the player is stupid and should been replaced! After the ball game, we went home.

July 10th, 2009

1. At the first day, we first went to the bottom of the bridge to make a stone kiln. First, we picked many pieces of wood from the beach. Then we get some stones from the bottom of the bridge to make the kiln. We first put bigger stones on the ground, and then we put smaller and smaller stones on top of the big stones. Before that, we put a long stone on top of two big stones to make a door. When the kiln is done, we put the pieces of wood and some old newspapers, and then lit the fire. We waited about 20 minutes and we put our yam and eggs in. During that time, some other team was trying to throw some stones to hit the bamboo stick on the other side. So we tried it too, but we failed. At last, only two competitors get a drink for a prize. Finally, the yams and eggs are cooked so we eat it. Our team only ate the yams because the eggs are over-cooked.

2. At the evening a man let us see a slide. Inside there are 80 pictures, mostly about birds, but some are locations too. At this one hour slide, we studied about many kinds of birds and some of the locations too.



July 11, 2009

1. This morning, we went to a field to play some games. We walked and heard the teacher say lots and lots of plants, and we saw lots and lots of birds with the teacher’s microscope. When we got to the field, we played a lot of games about running and a game that we dodge obstacles blind-folded. It is very fun!

2. At the afternoon, we go to a place to walk on a piece of steel wire. I was the 10th one to challenge it. At first, I climb a tall tree. It was very dangerous, and it was scary. Then I go on by the first part of the steel wire walking. At this first part, there were another two steel wires to hold the hands, so I passed the first part quickly. At the second part, there are only a few strings of rope, so it was very scary because of only a rope to hold on. But I fell only once, and passed the second part quickly.

3. At the night, we made some handmade soap. First we pour melted soap in the container. Then we put some tea tree branches and dry roses in the container. We put them for one night. (continued in next day)


July 12, 2009

1. When we woke up today, we quickly dressed up and brushed our teeth. We went down to see our handmade soap. After everybody came down, we put our soap out of the container. It is very beautiful.

2. We went to the field again at the morning. We played a tower defense, and we played another game called Frog King. At Frog King, we need to hop and avoid the other people hitting us when jumping. We didn’t win before because they are too strong. At the tower defense we were been separated into two teams, and try to avoid been hit by the enemy team. In three matches, we won two matches and won. We first get the drinks and they used a large truck to take us back. Then we went to a place behind the hotel to play another game. When we went up the hill, we saw an 8-foot long see-saw! At my turn, I swing down the hill, and it was scary because of too high. After we all tried, we went down to eat lunch.


What I Have Learned:

At these three days, I have studied about plants and birds, and I know how to look at stars. I made a lot of things and I know, it takes effort to do it. And it was very fun at this camp, that I wish I can join it again in the next year.

Today was my birthday.
This evening we went to “Smokey Joe”. We went to 2nd floor and there were no people on 2nd floor.
That looked excited. We ordered some fried lobster loops and spaghetti and hot pot. Grandma and Michael got the same. Then we ate together. After dinner, I bought a cup of chocolate mousse and Michael bought cheese cake with blueberry sauce. The dinner cost NT$1880 include tax.
At home, we opened the box. Michael didn’t like blueberry sauce. Mum came over and added blueberry sauce on my chocolate mousse. That looked delicious. Everyone said, “Happy Birthday to you”. And I said, ”Thank you”.

Saturday, July 5th, 2008
Today I woke up at 5:30am. I packed my suitcase and backpack. We got 2 sandwiches and went out. My dad bought some bean soup for us. We went to the railway station. We need to take the 7:00am train to Chia yi. We ate breakfast and took the train. We spent a whole hour at the train and we finally arrive. I saw many people at the station. After, I went in the bus and said goodbye to my dad. We first went to a space museum. We learned about the solar system and watched a 3D movie. Then we went to a farm and saw a cow. Then there was a race. It was a drinking contest. It needs 2 people- one for feeding and one for sucking the milk. I lost but I got a prize for joining for the contest. The lunch is milk hot pot and buns. After we went to paint the fake cow’s head and put in a box. But it rained. We were been stuck for half an hour when we finally got out. We went to squeeze milk. Then we took the bus to a temple. We learned a lot of things there. Then we went to eat dinner. It was very good. Then we took the bus to a sanheyuan三合院. It has four rooms and three bathrooms. Inside it has an air conditioner and a TV. Then we went to a sort of place that we do activities. We first imagine going around the world saying hello. Then some people play acts. It was very funny. Then we ate snacks. Then we walk a long way home. I took a bath, brush my teeth and watched TV. Then at 10:30pm, I went to sleep.

Sunday, July 6th, 2008
Today I woke up at 6:00am, but it was too early, so I slept again. At 7:00am, I got up to wash my face and get dressed. Then we went to eat breakfast. We board on the bus and went to a peanut factory. There was a peanut race. We weight our peanuts and see who the top 10. I got the top 10, and I got a bag of peanuts. Then we went to a temple to pray. Then we went to a museum. We used clay to do things. Then we went to eat lunch. The lunch is very good. Then we went back to the hotel to rest. Then we went to Fisherman’s Wharf (Not the Kaoshiung one). But it rained. So we got out but got in again. Then we went to eat dinner. Then we went to act a play. It was very funny. We got snacks. Then at 9:30pm, we went back to the hotel to take a shower, brush my teeth and went to sleep.

Day 3 in Chia Yi

Monday, July 7th, 2008
Today I woke up at 5:00am and went to sleep again. Then at 7:00am we packed our suitcases. We went to eat sandwiches and then we took a “cow truck”. We got to another peanut factory. Then we went to another salted duck egg factory. We made some salted duck egg. Then we went back and went to a place that we can get crickets. My shoes and pants got dirty. Then we eat BBQ. We eat chicken, clams, fried rice, and soup. After we made some birds with clam shells. Then, at 4:00pm, we got our suitcases and went to the station. We took the 17:13pm train to Kaoshiung. Then we played cards and we laughed very often. Then after one hour, we went back to Kaoshiung. My dad was outside waiting me. Then we went home.


These 3 days were very fun. I wish I would go there again!

Day 1
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008
Today we ate our lunch and went to grandma’s house to pick our grandmother. We went to Donggang to take the 2:00 boat. Inside the boat, the boat goes up and down, so I feel a little bit dizzy. And my grandmother’s baby was crying. Half an hour later, we arrived to Liouciou and rented 2 motorcycles. We drove to our home. It is a one story building and nobody always lives in it. So after we arrived, we started to clean it. In the rooms I saw ants, flies, and centipedes. After we cleaned the house, we went to the beach. At the beach, we first picked seashells. Then I saw some people jump in the water. Mom told me to learn them. So I started jumping in the water. I jumped about fifty times. Playing in the water lets me fun because I can jump in it and it is about my height. I had several cuts. After 6:30, we got up and go home. We took a bath and ate some noodles. We went to our neighbor’s house to watch TV. At 9:00, we went back to our house to sleep.


Day 2
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008
Today I woke up early and played my mother’s cell phone. Grandma found a sea urchin and I ate it. We went down the hill to eat breakfast. We went to another beach to pick seashells. But the road was closed. So we went to eat lunch. We bought some black tea, because my aunt is coming to Liouciou. After they came, we went back to our home waiting for low tide. After it is low tide, we went to pick seashells, sea anemone, sea urchin, starfish, and crabs. Then we went to jump in the water. I don’t think it’s good to do anymore, because the water is shallow. At 5:30, we took a bath and Mom took us to a restaurant to eat dinner. I ordered steak and inside it has noodles. It was very good that we went to the drink shop to buy chocolate milk tea for me. Today my mom decided to sleep in the neighbor’s house, so we brushed our teeth very early. We watched TV until 10:30 and went to sleep.

Day 3
Thursday, July 3rd, 2008
Today we woke up early and went down to eat breakfast. We went to Beauty Cave. Inside it has many caves. We searched almost every one of them. When we get out, we were standing at the entrance! So we have to walk a long way to get our motorcycles. Mom let us to eat Slurpee. At 11:00am we took our suitcases, and went to take the 12:00pm boat back. After we went back to Donggang, we take our grandmother home and we drive back to our home.

Liangshan Waterfall

Today we went to Liangshan Waterfall for a swim. Liangshan is in Maolin. The waterfall was very cool. So we went to play water there. But up the waterfall was dangerous. We went down to play. Dad found a game. He grabbed some stones and he floated! Thank goodness, the water was shallow, so I learned it too. We were very careful that because there we can fall down. There are some sharp stones so I got a few scratches on my skin. At noon, we went up and ate sushi and noodles. We went down again, and I was interested at the downfall game. At about 2:00, we got up. We went to take a shower. It is like a waterfall and you can wash there without been seen. We went back home at the end of the day. It was fun.

I broke the fan and the chair‏

Yesterday I was so angry that I broke the fan and chair. My brother told me to stop playing computer but I didn’t. So he got angry and threw a chair at me. Then I threw another chair on the fan. The pieces flew out of the fan, and the chair broke. Now I have to pay $200 for the chair. I am sorry to crash it, and I promise I’ll never do that again.

The Magic of Storytelling

Today was a really fun day! Today we have heard a story called “The great big enormous turnip”. The story started on 2:30. The speech had 90 minutes long. Actually, the audiences came in twos and threes to give a show after story time. The teller was a British woman. Her name is Cassandra. After the speech, she said we are brilliant! After that, we went to rock climbing. My brother and I went to play “Sky Climbing”. It was a climbing machine that tells you how fast your rock climbing is. We went on climbing. First we climbed a 3×7 square rock climbing. We went on with a 5×6 rock climbing with a rope. We tried a rock climbing 3 stories high! That was enormous! After the activities, we had to pick a card from the box. I got a toy from McDonald’s. And everything went on with happiness.

What a great day!!
